Amphenol Connex Introduces Low PIM Coaxial Adapters

Moorpark, CA -- Amphenol Connex is pleased to announce the release of a complete line of PIM tested adapters for use in wireless applications.   

The Amphenol Connex range of Low PIM adapters is ideal for wireless applications requiring consistent electrical performance, low return loss and low IMD.  Between series and in-series low PIM RF adapters are available with Type N, 7/16 DIN and SMA connector interfaces.  These coaxial adapters feature precision machined brass bodies and contacts.  Bodies are plated with white bronze offering the same Low PIM performance as silver without fear of tarnishing.  Contacts are either white bronze or silver plated. Four standard QMA to SMA adapter configurations are available:

The full range of QMA adapters are machined from brass and plated with white bronze plating.  White bronze is commonly used on larger form factor N type and 7/16 connectors and is used to combat IMD for low PIM requirements (read a white paper).  Center contacts are plated with a low cost high performance alternative to 30 microinches of gold offering offering the same durability at a lower cost.

Type N RF cable assemblies feature Nexcote (white bronze) plated Type N male plugs terminated to industry standard coaxial cable types.  Flexible cable types include RG-58 and RG-142.  Low loss cable types, including LMR-195, LMR-200, LMR-240 and LMR-400 are also available.  For high-frequency applications, beyond 6 GHz, conformable (hand-formable) semi-rigid cable options are available.  0.085 inch (RG-405) and 0.141 inch (RG-402) diameter cables can be ordered from distributor inventory.  Cable assemblies are stocked in standard lengths from 3 inches to 48 inches.  Custom RF cable assemblies can be ordered from the factory.

Moorpark, CA – Amphenol Connex is pleased to announce the release of new and improved versions of our end launch SMA connectors.  We’ve re-engineered our popular edge mount SMA connectors to ensure contact stability and to improve electrical performance from DC to 18GHz.   Edge mount SMA and RP-SMA connectors are ideal for use on semiconductor evaluation and demo boards and in high frequency space-limited applications.

Our edge mount SMA connectors feature gold plated bodies, precision machined from brass.  Dielectrics are PTFE.  Male contacts are machined from brass.  Female contacts are machined from Beryllium Copper.  All contacts are plated with cost saving gold over high-phosphorous nickel plating ensuring a durability of 500 mating cycles minimum.

End launch SMA connectors are available for varying PCB thicknesses and with either round post or flat-tab contacts.  Plug, jack and bulkhead jack body styles are available along with RP-SMA versions.  A matrix showing the popular part numbers is shown below:

Amphenol Connex Cables Help to Bring the Outside World In

Moorpark, CA – Amphenol Connex announces the release of two new fixed length cable assembly product lines. Both the AMC to SMA and the AMC to TNC cables are designed to operate from DC to 6 Ghz and are ideal for wireless applications connecting internal wireless modules to external antennas.

These cable assemblies feature right angle AMC series connectors on one end of the cable.  AMC (Amphenol Micro Coaxial) connectors are intermateable and interchangeable with industry standard equivalent products from other manufacturers.  Opposite the AMC connectors are SMA or TNC bulkhead jacks designed to mount to a panel or enclosure wall.  The SMA and TNC connectors are available in both standard and reverse polarization.  IP67 versions, allowing submersion to a depth of 1-meter for a 30 minute period, are available and are ideal for applications in which a sealed enclosure is required.

Several cable types are available including single braided 1.13mm and 1.37mm diameter micro-coaxial cables.  For applications requiring lower loss, 1.32mm diameter cables with a double shield are available.  RG-178 is also an option.  The cables are available in overall lengths from 50 to 300mm.
